Biology
Scorpions are around 2.5 - 5 cm in size and can be black, yellow, brown, or blue depending on the species. They feed on insects. They usually nest in stone wall cavities, soil holes, basements, roofs, wooden buildings, warehouses, and rubble piles. They approach or enter buildings to find nests and food. Once inside the house, it is possible to encounter them anywhere, such as in bed or inside shoes. They are active at night. They spend the day in dark and cool places, in their nests. When their nests below are flooded by spring and autumn rains, their entry into buildings increases.
Some species are venomous. They sting when they come into contact with a protective instinct. They pose a life-threatening risk to humans.
Control Methods
It is necessary to thoroughly investigate the nesting environments in places such as the garden, roof, basement, and warehouse, especially around the building. Control is carried out by applying special long-lasting pesticides to the surfaces in these environments in dry weather. Spring and autumn months are suitable for control. Indoor application is done for protective purposes. Control requires attention and a professional applicator.
