Biology
They are small, dull yellow flies, 1.5-3 mm in length, with their bodies covered in dense hairs. They live in nature in animal shelters, caves, and dim places in houses, and at night they suck blood from humans and animals. They lay their eggs on plant and animal waste. They play a role in the spread of diseases such as Oriental sore and fever.
